Creating Tasks Transcript

In this module, we will learn how to create a new task, set a due date and reminder when creating a new task, and understand and create recurring tasks.

To create a new task, simply click on the text bar at the bottom the screen and begin typing the name of the task. Once you are satisfied with your task’s name, it’s time to set the due date.

To add a due date, click the calendar icon on the right side of the text bar, and choose today, tomorrow, next week, or pick a date. My paper isn’t due until next month, so I’ll select “Pick a date” and choose the appropriate day.

Setting a reminder is very similar to how we just set the date. First, click the clock icon. Now you can choose to be reminded later today, tomorrow morning, or a week from now. You can also select “Pick a date and time” to pick the exact time you would like to be reminded. Let’s pick that option so we can set a reminder two weeks before the paper is due at noon. First, I’ll select the day, and then I’ll change the time.

The final option when creating a task is to set it to be recurring. A recurring task is one that repeats every set interval of time, such as every 5 days or twice a month. To Do gives you the option to repeat daily, on weekdays, weekly, and so on. You can also select custom to create a recurrence unique to your task.

To create a custom recurrence, I’ll select custom. I can now choose how often I want the task to repeat and at what interval. The available intervals are days, weeks, months, and years. So, for example, you could make task repeat every 3 days, 3 months, or even once every 3 years. Since my final paper will only be due once, I’ll go ahead and click cancel.

To finish creating your task, simply click the text box again and hit enter on your keyboard. Now you know how to create a recurring task and also how to create a task with a due date and reminder.
